Home Minister Krishna Prasad Situala presented the probe report at the House. He said the government was committed to act on the recommendations of the probe commission.

The 1400-page probe report documents widespread human rights abuses and misuse of state coffer to suppress last year's mass uprising, recommending legal action against 201 persons.

The government brought the report before the parliament after a ruling from Speaker Subas Nemwang last week.

National and international human rights groups, the civil society and the political parties had been pressuring the government to disclose the report and initiate action against the suppressors of the people's movement. The probe commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Krishna Jung Rayamajhi had submitted its report to the government in November last year.

Speaker Nemwang told reporters that the Parliament Secretariat would soon make public the Rayamajhi Commission report. The hardcopy of the report is available at the parliament's library.

Meanwhile, the new national anthem penned by Byakul Maila with Amber Gurung's music composition was also presented at the parliament today.

A cabinet meeting on Wednesday had approved Gurung's composition for the national anthem. It is likely to be played on radio and television stations by this evening
